Positrons in Decay of Yb$sup 16$$sup 7$; POZITRONY PRI RASPADE Yb$sup 16$$sup 7$

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4153529
In the decay of Yb/sup 167/, positrons with a maximum energy of 650 plus or minus 30 kev and an intensity of (0.4 plus or minus 0.1)%/decay and gamma -rays with energies of 920, 1040, 1250, 1440, 1520 kev and intensities of 0.07, 0.3; 0.15; pO.05, 0.05%/decay were observed. An analysis of the decay scheme indicates BETA decay to the 292 7 kev level of Tm/sup 167/ and a yb/sup 167/-Tu/sup 167/ mass difference of 1970 plus or minus 30 kev. The log ft of the BETA transition from the ground state of Yb/sup 167/ (5/2-/523/) to the excited level 292.7 kev of Tm/sup 167/ (7/2--/523/) was determined to be 4.74. This value was compared with conclusions from the superfluid nuclear model. (auth)
