BUBBLE DENSITY IN A HYDROGEN BUBBLE CHAMBER

Gap-length measurements on tracks in a hydrogen bubble chamber are used to determine the bubble density. The velocity dependence of the bubble density in the range BETA == 0.60 to 0.98 is shown to be represented by 1/ BETA /sup 1.91 plus or minus 0.05/. No relativistic rise in bubble density is found. This result is in agreement with theoretical predictions. Mechanisms for bubble formation are discussed. (auth)
