Elastic and inelastic (involving excitation of rotational levels) scattering of high-energy electrons by Be/sup 9/, C/sup 12/, and O/sup 16/ nuclei is considered on the basis of the alpha -particle model. The calculated differential cross sections for elastic scattering on these nuclei and inelastic scattering with excitation of the 2.43 Mev and 6.8 Mev levels in the Be/sup 9/ nucleus and 4.43 Mev level in the C/sup 12/ nucleus are in good agreement with experiments. It is demonstrated that elastic scattering on C/sup 12/ with excitation of the 9.61 Mev level can be explained within the framework of the model under consideration if one ascribes a spin and parity of 3/sup -/ to this level.
