Reactions of titanium- and zirconium(III) complexes with unsaturated organic systems. X-ray structure of ([({eta}{sup 5}-C{sub 5}H{sub 5})Zr(CH{sub 3})]{sub 2}[{mu}-{eta}{sup 1}-{eta}{sup 2}-CN(Me{sub 2}C{sub 6}H{sub 3})]({mu}-{eta}{sup 5}-{eta}{sup 5}-C{sub 10}H{sub 8}))

Reaction of ([Me{sub 2}Si(C{sub 5}H{sub 4}){sub 2}]TiCl){sub 2} with LiC{triple_bond}CPh proceeds with C-C coupling of the acetylide ligand yielding a titanium(IV) complex containing a bridging 1,4-diphenyl-1,3-butadiene group. Under similar conditions, ([({eta}{sup 5}-C{sub 5}H{sub 5})Zr({mu}-Cl)]{sub 2}({mu}-{eta}{sup 5}-{eta}{sup 5}-C{sub 10}H{sub 8})) reacts with LiC{triple_bond}CPh to form only the compound with {sigma},{pi}-C{triple_bond}CPh groups. ([({eta}{sup 5}-C{sub 5}H{sub 5})Zr({mu}-Cl)]{sub 2}({mu}-{eta}{sup 5}-{eta}{sup 5}-C{sub 10}H{sub 8})) reacts with 2,6-dimethylphenyl isocyanide, yielding the oxidative addition of the isocyanide ligand. Alkylation of this compound with MeLi produces the dimethyl derivative, the crystal structure of which is reported. 25 refs., 1 fig., 3 tabs.
