The Zeeman effect was observed in Sn/sup 119m/ st 23.8 kev (lifetime 2.67 x 10/sup -8/ sec, lever width 2.5 x 10/sup -8/ ev). Tin heavily enriched with Sn/sup 118/ (96%) and with Sn/sup 112/ admixture less than 0.06% was used. The measurements were mode with white tin absorption thicknesses of 36, 11, and 5 mg/ cm/sup 2/. The magnitude of the Sn/sup 119m/ magnetic excitation level was mu = (1.1 plus or minus 0.1) mu . or mu =(1.72 plus or minus 0.06) mu . atthe Debye temperature theta of 170 deg K. The magnitude mu = (1.1 plus or minus 0.1) mu . agrees with the accepted level scheme for Sn/sup 119m/. The calculated magnetic moment does not depend greatly on the Debye temperature; at theta = 20o deg K, mu = --1.15 mu and at theta = 140 deg K, mu = -- 1.05 mu .; mu . represents the magnetic moment of the Sn/sup 119/ ground level and equals to --1046 nuclear magnetons.
