The magnetic field of a picket fence configuration is described, and the containment properties of three embodiments of the concept are discussed. The power required to produce a given magnetic field in such an arrangement and the size of a toroidal picket fence container are calculated. The effects, origin, prevention, and reduction of plasma motion as a whole, with no charge transport, are also considered. (D.C.W.)
