NEW CONTAINMENT PRINCIPLE FOR NUCLEAR POWER STATIONS

Journal Article · · Energy Intern.
OSTI ID:4147590
A pressure suppression principle is described that eliminates need for dry-type capsule enclosure of reactor vessels. A water pool surrounds the reactor dry well so that if a break were to occur in the primary steam system, the released steam-water mixture would be vented into the water pool and condensed. The principle is described in its use at the Humboldt Bay Power Station. (R.E.U.)
