IMPROVEMENTS IN OR RELATING TO SEALING VALVES FOR GAS CONTROL

Patent ·
OSTI ID:4145454
A gas valve was designed for gas-cooled reactors in which the disadvantages of conventional high- and lowpressure valves are avoided. The valve comprises a gastight swivel or hinged valve having two sealing elements which are a diaphragm on the pressure side and seating means for the diaphragm. These two sealing elements are designed so that a seating for the diaphragm is secured free from any sudden changes of level between the valve body and the valve, thereby avoiding bending stresses on the diaphragm which may lead to its permanent distortion. This valve is suitable for sealing ducts of comparatively large cross section carrying gas under pressure. (D.L.C.)
