A method was developed for the direct amperometric titration of uranium(IV). The pyrolytic graphite electrode is used as the indicator electrode and Ce(HSO/sub 4/)/sub 4/ is used as the titrant. Applied potentials of from +1.0 to 0.0 volt vs the SCE may be used, with the more positive potentials being preferred. The method has a maximum relative error of plus or minus 1.12%, over the concentration range from 0.05 to 10 mu g of U(IV) per ml. Few of the common ions interfere and the method is simple and straightforward. (auth)
