PHOTOPRODUCTION OF NEGATIVE AND POSITIVE PIONS FROM CARBON AT FORWARD ANGLES

The production rates and cross sections were determined for the photoproduction of mesons ( pi /sup +/) and ( pi /sup -/) on carbon at bremsstrahlung energies of 2.91, 3.88, and 4.85 Bev. Positron production data were also determined to check on the normalization of the meson( pi ) data. Results were compared with the Drell peripheral collision model. (C.E.S.)
