$gamma$-RAY DECOMPOSITION OF SOLID AMMONIUM NITRATE

The radiation decomposition of solid ammonium nitrate by Co/sup 60/ gamma rays was investigated. Decomposition products were N/sub 2/O, N/sub 2/, H/ sub 2/O, and nitrite. "G"-values for the production of these gases were estimated. A mechanism for the decomposition of the salt is suggested. (auth)
