THE POLAROGRAPHIC DETERMINATION OF HEXAVALENT URANIUM IN THE PRESENCE OF EXCESS FERRIC IRON
Journal Article

It is shown that concentrations of uranyl ions varying from 10/sup -4/ to 10/sup -3/M may be rapidly determined polarographically. to an accuracy of 4% (95% confidence), in the presence of concentrations of ferric iron up to four hundred times in excess of the uranyl ion concentration. The determination is insensitive to the concentration of the 0.75M sodium fluoride used as a supponting electrolyte, and to time, but is not valid if the pH of the test solution is below 6.5. The ions Cu/sup 2+/, Pb/sup 2+/, and Mn/sup 2+/ are shown not to interfere, while Ti/sup 3+/ must be removed. (auth)
