ON THE K-CONVERSION COEFFICIENT OF THE 27. kev GAMMA RAY IN THE DECAY OF Hg$sup 20$$sup 3$
The K-conversion coefficient 0/sup +/ the 279 kev gamma-ray following the beta-decay of Hg/sup 203/ has been measured by comparing the x-ray and gamma- ray intensities in a scintillation speotrometer. The measured value of alpha / sub k/ = 0.195 plus or minus 0.014 indicates that the transition is M1 with E2 mixed to the extent of 63%. Our value is considerably higher than the magnetic beta spectrometer determinations, but is in agreement with the results of Johansson using the scintil lation method. (auth)
