The position of the USAEC regarding the development of small and medium land-based nuclear power plants with ths Army Nuclear Power Program (ANPP) is explained, and it is shown how military activities in this field are integrated with those of the over-all reactor development program. The ANPP charter, mission, organization, and objectives are reviewed, and the reactor plants which make up the program are described. The economics involved in developing, constructing, and operating such plants is discussed. (W.D.M.)
