RECOVERY OF URANIUM HEXAFLUORIDE FROM VENT GASES

Technical Report ·
DOI:https://doi.org/10.2172/4138886· OSTI ID:4138886

Three materials, UO/sub 3/, U/sub 3/O/sub 8/ and UF/sub 4/, were tested for their ability to absorb or react with low concentrations of UF/sub 6/ in the presence of large amounts of fluorine and air. It was found that at 400 deg F a fluidized bed of UF/sub 4/ will react with the UF/sub 6/ and that UF/sub 6/ in the amount of 10% of the weight of the UF/sub 4/ can be reacted before detectable UF/sub 6/ is found in the gas leaving the reactor.
