Mutually matched stimulated emission and laser plasma generation

Journal Article · · Sov. J. Quant. Electron. (Engl. Transl.), v. 5, no. 4, pp. 464-466
Regular stimulated emission was obtained from a ruby laser by varying the resonator Q factor with plasma jets. These jets formed as a result of an interaction between part of the laser radiation and a target placed between a mirror and the end of the ruby element near the caustic surface. The kinetics of the laser emission was controlled by employing different target materials (zirconium, tungsten, iron, carbon, PTK Textolite, and others). The time and energy characteristics of the ruby laser were determined. The relationship between the nature of the change in the absorptivity of the plasma and the stimulated emission was established.
