SIMPLE ANTICOINCIDENCE ARRANGEMENT WITH TWO PROPORTIONAL FLOW-THROUGH COUNTERS FOR THE DETERMINATION OF SMALL BETA ACTIVITIES (in German)

Two anticoincidence arrangements used for the measurement of low beta activities were described. The arrangements used gaas flow-through counters with latticed arranged counter wires both as shielded counter and measuring counter. In the first device the preparation is brought between two counters each with 300 cm/sup 2/ of effective counting surface and can be measured either in 2 or 4 pi geometry. In the second device the preparation is placed between a similar shielded counter but a somewhat smaller measuring counter. Its electrode lattice can be interchanged easily so that counting surfaces of various sizes up to 69 cm/ sup 2/ are possible. From measurements with electrodes of various diameters it is shown that the specific zero effect in each case is 0.1 pulse/min cm/sup 2/ of counter surface or less in a lead shield of only 100 kg. The optimum electrode sizes for test preparations of various diameters were discussed. (tr-auth)
