CONSTRUCTION AND ABSOLUTE CALIBRATION OF A PHOTONEUTRON STANDARD

Journal Article · · Acta IMEKO (Intern. Messtech. Konf.), Budapest, 1961
OSTI ID:4136906
A beryllium neutron standard source was constructed. Its activity was (3.11 plus or minus 0.07) x 10/sup 5/ neutrons per second. The beryllium was formed into two interlocking hemispheres with a cavity, which contained the gamma source (RaBr/sub 2/) that was encapsulated by platinum. The neutron production was by Be/sup 9/ + gamma yields n + 2He/sup 4/. The calibration and comparison to N.B.S. are discussed. (R.E.U.)
