Silicon Surface-Barrier Detectors With Guard-Rings and Their Possible Applications; POWIERZCHNIOWO-BARIEROWE KRZEMOWE DETEKTORY Z PIERSCIENIAMI OCHRONNYMI I MOZLIWOSCI ICH ZASTOSOWANIA

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4135031

Using a guard ring, the silicon surface-barrier nuclear radiation detectors with a depletion layer thickness about 1 mm were obtained. These detectors were used for charged-particle spectrometry. The resolution for 8.78Mev alpha particles was 16 to 20 kev, and the stability was 0.2 to 0.5%/8 hr. By means of a spectrometer using this type of detector, the energy of alpha particles up to 50 Mev, of protons up to 12 Mev, of deuterons up to 16 Mev, and BETA rays up to 700 kev can be measured. In addition, the spectrometer can and use for identification of charged particles. (auth)
