RADIATION PROTECTION MEASUREMENTS IN MIXED NEUTRON FIELDS WITH PARAFFIN MODERATORS (in German)

The utilization of moderated detectors for measuring neutron doses was reported. In the present study the relitionship between the flux density of thermal neutrons at the interior of the moderator amd the flux density or dose of fast neutrons at the surface is calculated. The calculations were made for paraffin moderators compared to water moderators. The calculated results were then compared with the results obtained experimentally using a BF/sub 3/ counter shielded by double paraffin layers. The results showed that the neutron flux density and the dose could be measured and an effective neutron energy could be determined. (J.S.R.)
