RADIATION CHEMISTRY STUDIES OF AQUEOUS IODINE-IODIDE SOLUTIONS

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4131126
The effect of pH on molecular product and free radical yields is reported for gamma -ray irradiated air-free iodine-iodide solutions. Iodine scavenges hydrogen atoms and iodide ion scavenges hydroxyl radicals. As the pH increases in the range from 1 to 6, G(H/sub 2/O/sub 2/) approaches G(H/sub 2/) and the difference G(H)-G(OH) approaches zero. Values of G(H) and G(OH) found are compared with previous values. (auth)
