Studies of methylene blue decolorization by alpha irradiation from dissolved polonium indicated that decolorization is a function of absorbed energy. A complete acceptance of radicals in the solution takes place with methylene blue 5 x 10/sup -5/ m concentration with the yield of reverse decolorization at 0.8 n sulfuric acid equal to 0.35 molecule/ ev corresponding to atomic yield of H 0.7 molecule/100 ev. The yield of OH radicals in 0.8 n sulfuric acid is equal to 0.8 molecule/100 ev. The initial water decomposition in alpha radiolysis is equal to 4.4 molecule/100 ev. (R.V.J.)
