PHOTOMICROGRAPHY OF ELEMENTARY CHARGED PARTICLE TRACKS IN NUCLEAR EMULSIONS (in German)
An automatic synchronous motor-driven focal plane shutter with a speed of 3 mm/5 sec is utilized with a slit width of 3 mm to facilitate detection of elementary charged particles that impinge onto nuclear emulsions at acute angles. The aperture shield serves as a projection control directly before and behind the slit. The slit shutter may be rotated or displaced on the projection screen. The shutter permits the exposure of only that range of the image that is covered by the depth of field at any time. By means of continuously refocussing the microscope very steep tracks can be recorded as a whole within the field of view. This equipment uses 35 mm film and it has successfully recorded since 1953 about 300 tracks of events produced by various types of charged particles. (BBB)
