This report describes work done to investigate the use of the Platinel thermocouple as an alternative to Chromel-Alumel and Platinum-Platinum Rhodium thermocouples, at high temperatures. Performance tests on Platinel thermocouples are described and their results discussed in relation to the performance of the two alternatives.
