PROCESS OF RECOVERING URANIUM
A process is given for recovering uranium from calutron pockets and consists of washing the pockets with hot H/sub 2/O (for UCl/sub 4/) or acid solution (for metallic uranium), adjusting the pH of the resulting solution at 1 to 3, producing ice crystals in the solution, adding H/sub 2/O/sub 2/, freezing and thawing, and separating the UO/sub 4/ precipitate for calcination to UO/sub 3/ and conversion to UCl/sub 4/. A complete description of the above process (using two calutrons) is given together with and separating the UO/sub 4/ precipitate for calcination to UO/sub 3/ and conversion to UCl/sub 4/. A complete description of the above process (using two calutrons) is given together with flowsheets of all the various steps. (D.L.C.)
