Included in the Dragon core are large numbers of graphite specimens to assess their possibilities for a future power reactor. Several fuel elements containing such specimens will be withdrawn after different intervals, providing various neutron doses and degrees of damage. The present report concerns the specimens in the second element, giving details of the nature of the graphites, the sample positions, the temperatures and fluxes anticipated, the pre-irradiation data, the methods of flux monitoring and the post-irradiation measurements required.
