THE CONTINUATION IN TOTAL ANGULAR MOMENTUM OF PARTIAL-WAVE SCATTERING AMPLITUDES FOR PARTICLES WITH SPIN

Journal Article · · Annals of Physics (New York) (U.S.)
An assumed one-dimensional dispersion relation is used to define a continuation in total angular momentum of the helicity scattering amplitude for particles with arbitrary spin. The result, which is a generalization of the FroissantGribov formula for zero spin, agrees with that discussed previously for potential models. It is shown that crosschannel unitarity imposed certain restrictions on the weight functions. The existence of certain kinematic zeros of the amplitude, corresponding to the decoupling of sense'' and nonsense'' channels, is proved in general, and finally it is shown that the presence of the nonsense-nonsence'' amplitudes does not affect the large z behavior, which is still dominated by Regge poles.
