STUDY OF THE REACTION RATES BETWEEN REFRACTORY OXIDES AND GRAPHITE. Quarterly Progress Report No. 5 for September 16, 1959 to March 15, 1960

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4125835
A system was constructed to raise and lower the crucible containing the sample magnetically into the preheated furnace while under vacuum. Reaction studies were performed on TiO/sub 2/ and reactor-grade graphite (TiO/sub 2//C weight ratio of 2.07/1) at 929, 959, and 1005 deg C. Reaction studies on Al/sub 2/ O/sub 3/ and graphite (Al/sub 2/O/sub 3//C weight ratio of 1.89/l) were performed at 1282 and 1375 deg C. (See also AD-220420.) (C.J.G.)
