A reactor fuel tube with helical fins and longitudinal baffles for forming flow channels is designed so that the baffles are capable of expanding axially but not radially. This is accomplished by a ring screwed on the tips of the fins which holds the baffles in place. The ring also protects the fin edges from damage during charging or discharging operations. (D.L.C.)
