Negative muons stopped in a propane bubble chamber form mesic atoms with carbon nuclei. Subsequently they either decay by their usual mode or interact with the nucleus. Based on a sample of 2519 mesons, the probability for interaction was found to be (7.4 plus or minus 0.8)%, and the total absorption rate of muons in carbon became (0.36 plus or minus agreement with theory.
