Gasdynamic water-vapor-condensation laser

Journal Article · · Sov. J. Quant. Electron. (Engl. Transl.), v. 5, no. 9, pp. 1131-1132

A theoretical description is given of the principle of operation of a new laser which transforms the energy of the vapor--liquid phase transition into the energy of coherent electromagnetic radiation. The active medium represents unstable strongly excited condensation products formed during the flow of a vapor through a supersonic nozzle. It is shown that a population inversion of intermolecular vibrational levels is possible in water dimer molecules. (AIP)
