A transistorized time-base circuit with a transistor connected in a trigger circuit is designed for sampling oscilloscopes for pulses having rise times of the order of 1 nanosecond. The advantage of this circuit is that transistors operated in the avalanche mode produce fast edges and narrow pulses; thus sampling oscilloscopes of small size, low cost, and low power consumption may be constructed.
