OSTI ID:4121852
The electromagnetic displacing means described coinprises a longitudinally extended stator composed of equal soft iron rings slid on a nonmagnetic tube and provided with slots for receiving coils fed by direct currents, which polyphase current system and provide an axially directed mulitpolar direct-current field being displaceable with respect to the stator. The armature that supports the control rod comprises ring-shaped pole pieces forming progressively north and south poles with permanent magature are slightly different for eliminating the slot harmonics of the traction curve.
