THE DEFINING OF IRRADIATION FIELDS IN TELECURIE THERAPY WITH COBALT-60

Journal Article · · Med. Mundi
OSTI ID:4120248
The efficacy of various measures on the course of the dose at the edge of the field in telecurie therapy with Co/sup 60/ was determined. The size of the radiation source, the diaphragmatic arrangement, the scattering medium, and the design of the diaphragm (rectangular or focused) all have their effect on the penumbra in telecurie therapy with Co/sup 60/. Measuring results were in accordance with the expectations derived from simple geometric considerations on the basis of the inverse square law and the dimensions of the radiation source as well as the diaphragmatic geometry.
