HIGH-GEOMETRY SYSTEM COUNTS LOW ACTIVITY LEVELS

Journal Article · · Nucleonics (U.S.) Ceased publication
OSTI ID:4119503

The development and performance of a high-geometry, low background counter is described. Samples containing low levels of activity (a few cpm) are conventionally counted close to an end-window counter under an anticoincidence umbrella counter. The geometry of the counting system is 4 pi . In principle, a gain in counting efficiency by a factor of two is obtained by placing a second detector underneath the counting sample. (P.C H.)
