A logarithmic amplifier with negative feedback is designed for use in a reactor power meter, using the output current from an ionization chamber. In the amplifier, the thermionic diode as the logarithmic element is connected in the negative feedback loop with a balancing diode whose bias current is controlled by another amplifier to maintain the balance diode current constant for input current variations over the full logarithmic range of the diodes.
