PRECIPITATION OF VACANCIES IN METALS

Journal Article · · Reviews of Modern Physics (U.S.)
Clustered vacancies, the various factors involved in their precipitation, annihilation and the manner in which they induce hardening are considered. A guide for the analysis of dislocation loops formed from collapsed clustered point defects is included. A summary of the kinds of defects observed by electron microscopy in quenched and aged metals is given. (C.E.S.)
