CLUSTERING OF VACANCIES AND HARDENING

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4077142
A review is presented of clustered vacancies and the factors involved in their precipitation, annihilation, and hardening effect. The formation of clusters and nucleating conditions are discussed. Helical and radioinduced dislocations are considered. Growth mechanisms and climb are discussed. Finally, the effect of vacancy clustering on mechanical properties and theories of hardening are considered. Analysis of dislocation loops is described. (D.L.C.)
