The invention relates to a method for the manufacture of sintered ceramics acting as targets, the irradiation of which leads to the production of $sup 238$Pu, characterized in that a nuclear oxide powder and a refractory oxide powder are blended together, their mixture being subsequently press-shaped and sintered at a high temperature. It is specified that said refractory oxide belongs to the group comprising MgO, Al$sub 2$$O$$sub 3$, CaO, SiO$sub 2$, BeO and ZrO$sub 2$, whereas said nuclear oxide is NpO$sub 2$ or AmO$sub 2$. This method provides targets having various advantages. (FR)
