SINTERING PROCESSES

Patent ·
OSTI ID:4118030
A method of producing a substantially pure Be tube is patented. Be powder in an uncompacted state is placed in a mold around a Cu core. The mold is heated to a temperature of 930 to 1030 deg C and maintained at that temperature long enough for the Be to become cohesive and self-supporting. The temperature is then raised to 1100 to 1200 deg C. The Cu core melts and can be withdrawn from the mold, and the higher temperature is maintained until the Be is completely sintered. (M.P.G.)
