NUCLEAR SPIN RELAXATION AND MOLECULAR DIFFUSION IN LIQUID HYDROGEN

Journal Article · · Physica
Oct. The nuclear spin lattice relaxation time T/sub 1/ and the diffusiou coefficient D of liquid hydrogen were measured between 14 deg K and 20 deg K by the spin echo technique. The temperature dependence of the quantities does not agree with recent predictions of their behavior. The observed dependence of T/sub 1/ on ortho hydrogen concentration indicates that the reorientation of the ontho molecules within the liquid is best explained in terms of a collision theory description. A discussion of the influence of diffusion on spin echoes is appended. (auth)
