STRAY AND SCATTERED RADIATION INTENSITY AND ENERGY DISTRIBUTIONS OF A 15 Mev BETATRON USED FOR NON-DESTRUCTIVE MATERIALS TESTING (in German)

Journal Article · · Kernenergie (East Germany)
OSTI ID:4117724
An industrial betatron installed for nondestructive materials testing with 15-Mev boundary energy was investigated with regard to interfering and scattered radiation. The definitions of the dosimetry concepts used are explained. Commercial ionization chambers were used as radiation indicators and their measurement errors determined. The average energy was obtained from absorption measurements. For various planes relative to the target, isodoses were plotted, which showed strong asymmetrical distiibutions. The influence of the thickness and shape of the scattering body as well as the primary radiation energy was determined. (tr-auth)
