CAESIUM-137 FALL-OUT OVER NORWAY SINCE SEPTEMBER 1956

Data are presented on gross beta activities and Cs/sup 137/ concentrations in samples of precipitation collected in Norway between September 1956 and June 1960. The Cs/sup 137/ activity followed the same general pattern as the over-all deposition of beta -emitting isotopes. By comparing Cs/sup 137/ activities with gross beta -activities it was possible to obtain an idea of the effective ages of the deposited materials. It is concluded that a large pant of the fall-out from many test explosions has been rather continuous over months instead of years. (C.H.)
