A 10 mg/cm/sup 2/ Cu/sup 63/ target is bombarded with a collimated 22- Mev bremsstrahlung beam. The target was placed at the center of a homogeneous magnetic field of circular cross section. At the periphery of the field nuclear emulsions were placed to detect the emitted charged particles. The angle of incidence of the particles in the emulsion depends on the radius of curvature of their trajectory in the magnetic field, and together with the range in the emulsion allows identification of protons and deuterons. The deuteron yield is 4.5 plus or minus 2.5 percent of the proton yield. The alpha particle yield is also 4.5 plus or minus 2.5 percent of the proton yield. (auth)
