THE SYNTHESIS OF BIPHENYL-2,2',6,6'-d$sub 4$, BIPHENYL-2,2',3,3',5,5',6,6'- d8, AND BIPHENYL-d$sub 1$$sub 0$

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4114230
Biphenyl-2,2',6,6'-d/sub 4/ was prepared from biphenyl-2,2', 6,6'-d/sub 8/ was prepared from biphenyl-d/sub 10/ by a similar 2-step synthesis. A method was developed for the preparation of biphenyl-d/sub 10/ from biphenyl. The three deuterated biphenyls prepared were 95.2, 96.0, and 96.2 mole % pure, respectively; the impurities consisted of biphenyls with a lower deuterium content. (auth)
