RADIOBIOLOGICAL INVESTIGATIONS WITH CHROMIUM-LABELED ERYTHROCYTES. II. THE ERYTHROCYTE LIFETIME OF AWAKENED AND HIBERNATING DORMICE (in German)

Journal Article · · Strahlentherapie (West Germany)
OSTI ID:4113965
Using the radiochrome method, the survival of the erythrocytes in the peripheral blood of dormice was determined in a normal state, during hibernation, and after waking. The survival was 91 days normally, 270 days during hibernation, and 64 days after waking from a 4 week period of hibernation. A change in the survival time of the erythrocytes could not be observed after total body irradiation with 800 r. The hemoglobin-value decreased slowly during the hibernation period. (auth)
