An oxygen-treated tantalum emitter was prepared and operated in a parallel-plane cesium-vapor converter with a molybdenum collector in the high- pressure mode. The current voltage curves are very similar to those from a converter having a clean tantalum emitter when taken under similar conditions except for cesium pressure. The tube with the oxygen treated tantalum emitter operates at half the cesium pressure. Comparing this converter's output with the output of a converter with a tungsten emitter showed similar volt-ampere characteristics except less high current capability for the oxygen-treated tantalum emitter.
