The beta -decay of Rb87 was studied wlth a scintillation spectrometer. To avoid source absorption and scattering RbI(TI)-, NaI(T1) + RbI- and CsI(Tl) + RbI-crystals were used. The beta -spectrum was measured down to 6 kev and the observed maximum beta -energy was found to be 275 plus or minus 5 kev. The speciflc activity of natural rubidium was determined at 740 plus or minus 10 cps per gram and the half life of Rb87 at (5.82 plus or minus 0.1) x 10¹⁰ years. (auth)
