IMPROVEMENTS IN OR RELATING TO THERMONUCLEAR REACTORS

A thermonuclear reactor is designed wtth modulated discharge current so that electric energy may be extracted continuously from the discharge while the discharge stability is maintained. The reactor consists of a transformer, a vessel for fuel gas, and means for energizing the transformer to set up a pinched ring discharge 1n the gas, and the current modulation is carried out in such a way that the discharge gas is cycled tn a closed thermodynamic cycle. Several circuits for effecting the current modulation are shown together with the corresponding waveforms for the discharge voltage and current. (D.L.C.)
