Luminescence intensity and duration were measured on water and alcohol solutions of certain compounds upon excitation with ultraviolet and ionizing radiation. It is shown that a specific quenching, causing a considerable reduction of the duration of luminescence, appears upon excitation with ionizing radiations. It was found that the rates of quenching by foreign substances (O/ sub 2/ and CCl/sub 4/) aad of concentration quenching are increased in radioluminescence. (auth)
